Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2026

Debt Collection Express ("us", "we", or "our") operates this website (the "Service"). This policy explains how we collect, use, and share personal and business information when you use the Free Check, contact us, or otherwise use the Service.

We handle this information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

What We Collect

When you use the Free Check or contact form, we collect:

  • Your name, phone number, and email address
  • Your business location (if provided)
  • Details about the debt: the amount owed, how long it's been overdue, and whether you have a signed invoice or agreement
  • Any invoice, agreement, or other document you choose to upload as evidence
  • Any other details you add in the free-text field

Submitting these details is how you consent to this collection and to the uses described below, we don't collect this information anywhere else on the site without an equivalent form and this notice.

Why We Collect It

We use this information to:

  • Assess whether your debt is likely worth pursuing (the Free Check itself)
  • Match you with a suitable independent, third-party debt collection agency from our partner network, if pursuing the debt makes sense
  • Contact you about your enquiry

We don't collect this information to build a marketing list, and we don't use it for any purpose beyond assessing and, where relevant, matching your enquiry.

Who We Share It With

We share your details with a matched partner agency only when a match actually proceeds, so they can contact you directly about recovering the debt. Every partner agency is an independent business, not part of Debt Collection Express, and is expected to handle your information under its own privacy obligations.

We also use third-party service providers to run the Service, for example, email delivery, SMS notifications, file storage, spam protection, and analytics. These providers only access what they need to perform that specific function, and aren't permitted to use your information for anything else.

We don't sell your information, and we don't share it with anyone else outside of the purposes described in this policy.

File Uploads

If you upload a file (an invoice, agreement, or similar), it's stored securely and used only to process your enquiry. Once your submission has been sent to us and, where applicable, your matched partner agency, the uploaded file is deleted from our storage.

Log Data & Cookies

Like most websites, we collect standard log data (IP address, browser type, pages visited, time and date) and use analytics/tag-management tools to understand how the Service is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though some parts of the Service may not work as intended if you disable them.

Security

We take reasonable, commercially acceptable steps to protect your personal information, including encrypted transmission and storage. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security, but we treat this seriously given the sensitive nature of debt and financial information.

Access, Correction & Deletion

You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, by contacting us. We'll respond within a reasonable time, noting that information already shared with a matched partner agency (because a match had already proceeded) needs to be actioned with that agency directly for their own records.

Children's Privacy

The Service is intended for business use and isn't directed at anyone under 18. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes To This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes take effect once posted on this page, and we'll update the date above when we do.
